I paint because my head is always full of these images, ideas and colors. I love every color and try really hard not to use them all in every painting. I love trees, especially without the leaves because I can really see the structure. I have been painting and drawing animals for 25+ years. Birds are my favorite, they are technically challenging and fun to execute.
Blank canvases and wood panels surround me, a size or shape will call to me. I then see the backgrounds in them, and start layering acrylic paint colors. I often use colors straight out of the tubes, no mixing, it keeps them vibrant and pure. I use water and mediums to create transparent layers. We pick and choose some of the paintings to make prints and the greeting cards. My style varies, but leans to representational going back to a B.A. in Illustration I recieved from Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota Florida.
We now live in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC., my 11 year old son, a Black Laborador named TJ and I. The beautiful landscapes and mountain air have proved to be great inspiration for my creative process. I do a few festival a year and sell at some local Galleries here in NC. the Woolworth Walk, Downtown Asheville, Art Mob in Hendersonville, and Mountain Nest in Black Mountain.
